coming out of retirement

I have completed my lifeguard certification class and will be coming out of retirement to guard at the pool here at the settlement. It has been a few years since guarding at camp, I was surprised at how much I did remember. The pool here is used mostly by kids in the summer recreation program and by work campers here in the summer. The settlement was kind enough to pay for my class and I will be volunteering my hours, I plan on still working on the farm this summer as well. It will be nice to have something different to do and to get to know some of the kids better.

Jake

This is Jake, he is our new dog, when I say we I don't mean Sarah and I, I mean our director Mark and I. Jake was a stray and had been around all winter. About a month ago Mark tempted me and said that he would pay the vet bill if I helped to take care of him, I took him up on the offer. We got him shots and he is due to have some fixing surgery soon. The vet didn't think he was older than a year. He has become more puppy like since he has been fed regularly and been given attention. He has a run near the barn where he can get out of the weather if need be. I think he will move to Mark's house when he and his family get there later in the summer. He will most likely have to stay here when we come home but I am enjoying having a dog for the time being.
